Samantha's Words of Advice:

GA Responsibilities

Make sure you do all of your paperwork with student employment asap
Go online each week and fill out your timesheet
EMAIL EMAIL EMAIL- check your emails and respond to everyone that emails you ASAP, even if it's an "okay" just make sure it is known that you read it and are on it
Email schools about upcoming facilitations and assemblies
CC marcrequest on every single email you send, get into the habbit to cc marcrequest on everything, no matter how small you think it is
When a school responds to you, respond the same day.
Use other GA's and GRA's for support before you email Meghan. If its a quick question, shoot a team member a text or an email
Take initiative with emailing, and volunteering for things. By volunteering or saying yes to possible MARC opportunities, it sends the message that you feel your position with MARC is important to you.
Set aside a time each day, preferably the same time everyday to sit down with your computer and answer all the emails you have received for the day.
Star the messages that you want to respond to later
Organize your gmail account as a priority inbox, it will keep the unread and starred emails on top so you don't forget to respond.
It is helpful ( or was for me) to link your marc email account if you have a smart phone. We all live on our phones (well, most of us) so getting a notification will be a constant reminder, when you have to log in to something it tends to make it feel more like a task.
Keep up with emails, I like linking it to my phone because i can respond right away, it can, at times get overwhelming to open up your email account and see a bunch of emails waiting for you. So just do your best to stay on top of them.
Do things in advance, do things before Meghan asks you to do it, if you can.
Always say yes to Meghan and Elizabeth. It is easy to think they are more like your "friends" which they may be, but they are still our boss, so... just say yes (if you have the availability)
Buy yourself a planner and stay organized, write everything down and live by your planner. Write things as they come up, never say "ill write that later" because you will most likely forget.
Write canned emails
Familiarize yourself with Dropbox, Google Drive and Blackboard.
Communicate with all of the UG's that are attending your facilitation.Email them to let them know the times and rooms, take attendance at facilitations, and grade them through BB)
Bring your computer to every GA meeting ( this may sounds obvious, but take it from me, when you forget it, you're useless)
At facilitations and assemblies, always bring you clicker, your computer, your computer charger, a back up presentation (usb?)
Send the follow up guides right away, possibly right when you get home from your assembly or as soon as the kids leave a facilitation
Make sure the follow up guides resemble the presentations. Sometimes we will edit the powerpoint and take out a slide, and the follow up guides need to reflect that.
Conduct UG interviews for admission into the MARC class
